Florida Open Imaging

Recent advances in imaging science are leading to clearer images for even faster and more accurate diagnoses. Whatever your needs, JFK Medical Center Diagnostic Imaging is equipped to meet them at one convenient location. We're a full-service radiology department staffed by board-certified professionals committed to bringing you the most advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities. The following diagnostic imagings are available as an inpatient or outpatient:

Women's Center

Mammography is critical to catching breast cancer in its earliest-and most treatable-stages. We offer this high-quality diagnostic test through our Women's Center. We also provide follow-up testing for abnormalities using state-of-the-art techniques such as stereotactic breast biopsies, surgical needle localization and MRI tissue display.

Diagnostic X-ray

Our Diagnostic Imaging Department is staffed around-the-clock to meet community's needs. Routine diagnostic X-rays for outpatients are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

CT scan

Three multidetector computed tomography (CT) scanners-which use X-ray technology to generate cross-sectional views of the body and its internal organs-are available 24/7 for the most accurate results possible. CT scans help identify tumors, cysts, fractures and infections throughout the body, including the head, chest, spine, liver, kidneys and uterus. This painless test helps guide physicians and radiologists through many types of minimally invasive treatment procedures.

Ultrasound

This noninvasive test, which uses sound-wave technology, plays a pivotal role in patient screening and vascular disease follow-up. Diagnostic Imaging provides ultrasound testing for the abdomen, pelvis, breast and thyroid areas, as well as for peripheral vascular disease. We're one of a few facilities in the area to provide 24/7 ultrasound coverage.

MRI

The recent addition of a second 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner significantly increases our diagnostic capabilities. This powerful tool-which uses a magnetic field instead of X-rays to produce high quality images in multiple planes-results in faster scan times and greater patient comfort.

Nuclear medicine

By introducing radioisotopes into the body and recording the radiation they emit, our Nuclear Medicine Department can recognize the presence, size and shape of various abnormalities in the body. Diagnostic exams include bone scans, thyroid scans, hepatobiliary scans, gastric emptying times, GI bleed studies and cardiac SPECT scanning.

Interventional radiology

In many cases, our interventional radiologists are able to gain image-guided access to vessels and organs in order to treat certain conditions through minimally invasive techniques. These procedures include opening blocked arteries with balloons and stents, stopping vascular bleeding and providing a detailed road map for further testing and treatment. Under one roof and close to home, JFK Medical Center Diagnostic Imaging maintains the region's most advanced imaging technology.
