Dr. Lester is Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery and Chair of the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at JFK Medical Center.
Dr. Lester’s surgical expertise spans more than 30 years. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, Dr. Lester remained there for his residency in family practice. As Chief Resident, he completed his internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital and served as Chief of General Emergency and Trauma Services. A residency in thoracic surgery and cardiovascular surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, was followed with residencies in general surgery at the University of Miami Clinic, where he was a professor of clinical surgery and an attending cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon.
In addition to board certification and fellowship training in general surgery, Dr. Lester has fellowships in thoracic and cardiac surgery from the Cleveland Clinic.
