Patients participate in three hours of structured therapy per treatment day, three days a week and remain in community of origin at other times to facilitate application of new skills learned. This is an option for those who need more support and structure than outpatient treatment can provide, but do not require the intensity of PHP. Some patients are admitted directly to IOP, while others step down from inpatient care or PHP.
IOP affords the opportunity to integrate back into daily routines, such as work or school, while participating in treatment. Programming is flexible and offers frequent sessions to help maintain abstinence, improve mental health and improve quality of life.
- Recognizing and accepting the illness
- Developing and improving coping skills
- Eliminating unhealthy behavior patterns
- Beginning the recovery process toward abstinence
- Accessing sober support systems in the community
IOP is specifically designed to stabilize the condition of the individual, enhance self-understanding, teach new coping skills and eliminate symptomatic behavior. We accomplish this through the use of treatment approaches including:
- Psycho therapeutic interventions
- Use of the 12 step recovery model
- Life management skills
- Improving self-esteem
- Medication education
- Planning for recovery and relapse prevention
- Re-building personal and professional relationships
- Education and referral to community resources
The primary modality utilized is group therapy as clinicians facilitate four group therapy sessions each day. Upon this foundation, our treatment professionals develop an individualized treatment plan, skills training, therapeutic activities and special focus groups that address the patient’s individual needs. Activities and groups may include:
- Anger Management
- Problem Solving/Coping Skills
- Relaxation Therapy
- Cognitive/Behavioral Groups
- Addiction Education
- Grief and Loss Issues
- Interpersonal Relationships
- Anxiety Disorders
- Skill Building
- Wellness Planning
- Relapse Prevention
The focus of our treatment program is to achieve maximum progress toward recovery in a relatively short stay.
In our program, treatment personnel work closely with employee assistance professionals, managed care companies, employers and insurance companies to help ensure a timely and smooth transition back to family, work and other areas of productive activity.
Upon discharge, we ensure that issues and needs identified during treatment continue to be addressed by providing therapy referrals, self-help groups and additional community supports that address psychiatric and addiction issues.
Our admission process is confidential and available Monday through Friday by appointment. IOP is individualized and length of participation varies. Medicare and most private insurances are accepted.
