The Outpatient Therapy Center at JFK Medical Center offers rehabilitation programs and therapies to help you improve your range of motion and quality of life following surgery or due to limitations from an injury or medical condition, including:

Physical therapy

Our rehabilitation staff provides physical therapy as one step in our complete continuum of care. Physical therapy is often needed following an orthopedic injury or surgery and aids in strengthening and rehabilitation. Physical therapy is a term that encompasses a range of therapeutic techniques, including physical movements and manipulations, stretches, exercises, massages and heat therapies. The goal is to increase range of motion and stability.

Occupational therapy

Our occupational therapy program can make a major difference if you've experienced physical difficulties as a result of arthritis, acute and/or chronic orthopedic pain, an amputation, hand injuries, burns and wounds, neurological dysfunction and cumulative trauma disorders. Our occupational therapists will help you regain independence through a program of progressive activities and exercises to build fitness and functional capabilities.

When appropriate, we'll train you in the use of adaptive equipment to replace lost function. Our goal is for patients to achieve the movements and abilities they need to successfully thrive in their daily lives.

Speech therapy

Our certified speech-language pathologists will develop a customized treatment plan for you if you have lost functionality in the areas of speech and language ability, comprehension (spoken or written word), voice projection or swallowing.

Speech therapy is often used for patients recovering from a stroke and can reteach individuals proper speech or new methods of communication moving forward.

Orthopedic rehabilitation

Our comprehensive orthopedic services include a rehabilitation program that is designed to restore normal strength, motion and flexibility; reduce pain; and prevent recurrence of neurologic and musculoskeletal disorders. What is fibromyalgia?

Lymphedema program

At JFK Medical Center, therapists certified in lymphedema assessment and treatment provide lymphatic drainage massage techniques, medical compression extremity wrapping and therapeutic exercise to stimulate lymph fluid.
